A quick update on this interesting challenge. I have solved the "disappearing XP install" challenge and have successfully installed VMware Player on my Windows 7 Professional bit system. Repair the Windows Boot Manager. Vmware player for windows 10 64 bit downloaded and used EasyBCD 2.

It worked brilliantly. All I needed to do was install it and edit my BCD file part of the Windows 7 install to install a "new" operating system. I can boot into either system with no unusual problems. I have no idea why that BCD got corrupted in the first place, but, it's fixed now.
